Just Do It!

That's what I kept telling myself when I looked at my dining room table and chairs. I think this is the only "before" photo I have. See the table and chairs way back there in the background?

Just do it! If it looks awful you can buy new ones. Just do it! For a couple of months I told myself that and then I went for it.

I painted my chairs!
Photobucket
And I LOVE it!
Photobucket
I love the contrast in wood and black!
Photobucket
I still have two more bar chairs to paint!
Photobucket
But I'm so glad I did it!

So if there's something you've been wanting to do....JUST DO IT!

Just wonderful! .... and thanks for posting this. The paper has been peeling in our hall leading from the carport to our kitchen, for some time now. I have a desire to strip it, and paint it .... not just plain paint, but like old cellar stone and then tree/vines growing on it. I am deciding now to just do it! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for the inspiration. I have a couple of old pieces of furniture, and I know they say to leave it in its original condition, but I'm not going to sell them. But I do want to do something with them, and think that after I move, when I have some time in the late Fall and beginning of Winter, on some warm day, I will paint them both robin egg blue. One is an old washstand, and one is a stool - they belonged to my Mom's family way back when. I'll have to remember to take before and after photos too, like you did. Great post! Take care, from Fayette Co KY.

Thanks everyone and I am so glad that I have inspired so many of you! You will have to come back and leave a link to pics of what you do!

Thank you Rick! We really do love it out here. We're a mile down the road that you see in the magazine post below. We are next to the last house on the road (the last is about half mile on down the road). The road itself is almost 13 miles out of town so it's peaceful and quiet out here in our little log home. I fell in love with the high ceilings and loft when we looked at the house 3 and half years ago. We've done a lot of work on it and we're no where close to finished but it's HOME!

You did a great job with the chairs...in fact, your whole house looks like it should be in Architectural Digest magazine. Everything is beautiful.

What a beautiful home! And the chairs look perfect. I love that look; the natural wood table with painted chairs. Black is perfect for your home.
