Sneaking Apples

Photobucket
This fawn and it's momma live in the woods behind our house.
Photobucket
They usually wait until late in the afternoon to visit the apple tree.

But they got an early start yesterday evening and he loves the apples.
I took these pics from our bedroom window.

I have watched this little guy growing and playing over the last month from my kitchen window.
Last year I watched twins grow up there with an older doe after witnessing their birth in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Just one of the many reason I love living way out here in the middle of nowhere!

They are so sweet, but they drive us crazy with 4 acres of veggies for market! All of the neighborhoods popping up mean that the deer all move to our farm. Oh, well!

How fabulous to have such lovely wildlife so close - I'm green with envy, I thought we were lucky to live within four miles of our nearest deer forest.

My husband planted a peach tree last year. It's only about 4 feet tall now and it had two peaches this year. He was so proud of those peaches and waiting for them to get ripe. He told me Monday that he was going to pick them yesterday. He went out to get them and they were both gone along with half the leaves on the tree. Missed them by one day! He wasn't very happy with the deer!

They also ate all my green beans in the garden this year. Good thing I still had a lot canned from last year.

Yes! Loving the deer is a bittersweet thing. We love to watch them, too, but know the damage they do to crops, and the car wrecks they cause;however, it is wonderful to be able to watch them graze and raise their young right at your doorstep, like we do.

WOW...what great pictures, it looks like you are standing right next to them! I just love them too. This morning as I was out for my early morning walk through the fields, I saw two tall cranes stepping high to walk through the crops, I love to see the wild things! :D

Awwww so cute and very cool! I LOVE NATURE!!! You are very blessed to get to watch them grow. We have deer around but havent seen them in our yard, usually wayyyy back in the field across the street. I love living in the country too, best place in the world :)

We are surrounded by beautiful wild deer. They have been in hiding with all this heat and now, as the weather has cooled, they are out in large numbers. This frightens me since they play so hard they will run into the road before you can blink. We go slowly and watch closely.

Would love to have that view. We have a few passing by and wished they would stay.

I love your deer. I blog about our deer all the time. We have a mama and two fawns that have kind of adopted our subdivision as their home. They roam around our yards every day, eat our apples and sit and rest. They are so cute!
