Today is the first day we have seen the sun in a long time! This is 2nd worse flood in history our area has been through. The other was the Great Flood of 1937.
I'd like to share a few photos of the flooding and the sky I have taken in the last few days. It's amazing how something can be so scary and so beautiful all at the same time.
Please keep all of those affected by the floods and recent tornadoes in your thoughts and prayers. I'll be spending tomorrow gathering supplies for the shelter in a small town near us. I grew up with these people. They are friends and family.
It hurts to see them going through something so devastating. Losing things they have worked for all their lives. Farm land will take months to dry out. Many people make their living planting crops here and they have no idea when they will be able to get back in their fields.
The rivers are supposed to crest May 3 and there has already been so much devastation to homes along the rivers.
We went to the Amish Community Saturday and stopped by the swinging bridge. The water was already up and is a lot higher now. Of course, we still had to cross it a couple of times.
Our house is safe from the flooding and I am so thankful for that.
On a happier note....
All this rain has brought out the green.
My weigela bushes are blooming and
my kids are playing in a yard that desperately needs mowing! They also seem to have a lot of fun on this...

just a state away but i feel for your friends who are suffering. this weather worries me so very much. it seems as though each time i turn on the tv, a town has been devastated by water or wind (tornado). take care and i am glad you and your family are safe!
so glad ya'll are okay...we are keeping all those affected in our prayers for sure, so terrible.
my kids would love to have their own 4-wheeler...i think i won't show thim this post! :)
I've been watching all the terrible storms that have hit your neck of the woods for a couple of days now.
I'm glad you are safe and more dry than wet. I would like to take all of Alabama and set them up in our guest house if I could. Prayers all around.

So glad you're okay. It has been a bad month. I feel so blessed that everything is undamaged here. So many have lost so much. Happy you're back.
So pleased you are safe and sound. I cannot imagine the terrible devastation and how it must affect families - I hope that they will find peace and that the land will drain sooner rather than later. I know from terrible floods in the UK that homes take many months to dry out, and many precious things are lost. My heart goes out to them all.
Glad to hear you`re safe and sound. We`ve been having some terrible flooding and storms her in Pennsylvania as well. Try to stay dry!
Isn't it wonderful how children can find pleasure and joy in the little things during these stressful times.If only, we adults, could hold on to that ability a little longer.I guess age opens our eyes a little wider, as it will theirs one day,too. The innocence and wonder of youth passes so quickly.
