I let the goats out for a couple of hours at a time to start with so they don't overindulge themselves and end up with bellyaches. Everyone loves green grass! Even the chickens.
This is Pumpkin. He has moved up to head rooster after losing Red.
While the other goats were out picking the field clean, I let Nanny and the babies out to play! Their first outing! They were so excited!
Momma was pretty happy to get out and visit with the other ladies as well.
Prepare yourself for the cuteness. Our boys have gone with the names Buddy, Brownie and Blackie.

They played and hopped and jumped and yelled for Momma when they couldn't see her!
They told each other secrets and plotted to escape again soon!
I can't be totally sure but I think these guys are in on it too!
24 baby chicks from the incubator. They hatched a week ago and I have another 40 eggs due to hatch on May 2! It's definitely Spring on the farm!

I would be interested in knowing how and when you will be introducing your chicks to the grown-ups. I have chicks not from my hens and don't have a clue how or when to put them together safely.
Carmi, I keep them in the brooder until they are about 6 weeks old then I have a small hen house with wire all around the yard of it (top and bottom as well as sides) that I put them in until they are about 6 months old. When they start to lay I let them out during the day with the older hens. They still go to roost at night in the smaller one for about a week or so then I move them into the big hen house full time. This gives the older hens a chance to get used to them. Hope that helps.

Isn't farm life a wonderful experience for children.We try to expose our two grandchildren to as much as we can. They are in town.We are in the country. They bought a rabbit this weekend to add to our menagerie of pets.We now have 2 dogs,2 cats, 22quail,5 baby chicks. 10 hens,1 rooster, and 1 rabbit.Oh yes, and the Purple Martins have returned and are just now starting to rebuild their nests for this year.There's never a dull moment on a farm.
I forgot to mention 1 bainty hen and 1 bainty rooster.We have 2 hens setting on eggs at the moment,too.

They all look so happy! I had a couple of goats that managed to get the grass scours even though they've been on pasture the whole time is was turning green. Luckily they are doing fine. Those chicks are adorable!
