Canning Give Away!!!

I love to can! I love opening those jars on cold winter days and having a little summer goodness right there in front of me. I can apples, cherries, strawberries, peaches, beans, tomatoes, salsa, pickles, beets....and on and on....I haven't gotten into canning meats yet. I prefer to put that in the freezer but I did get a pressure canner last year so you never know what I might decide to try.

I am hoping by doing this give away that someone else will decide to try canning. I promise you won't be disappointed. You don't even have to grown your own fruits and veggies if you don't have the space or time. I grown a lot of mine but I do buy some of my stuff from the local farmer's market or the Amish community nearby.

Today's give away includes this 5-piece home canning kit.

and the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving.

Leave me a comment about canning, why you like to, why you want to, your favorite things to can, etc. You do not have to be a follower of my blog but I would love it if you decided to be! Send your friends this way too!

A winner will be drawn on Monday morning, May 10th, at 9:00 am Central time. The items will be shipped to you directly from Amazon and I am going to have to limit this to U.S. entries only after I checked the price of shipping for other countries. Sorry about that, I hope everyone understands.

Wow! what a awesome give away!! I absolutely love to can. I have a old gas stove from a camper on my backporch so when canning it won't heat up the kitchen. My MIL gave me a pressure canner and my husband brought one home last year for me so now I can have 2 going at the same time. Like you opening the cans in the winter is heavenly besides the savings on winter grocery bills.

I love the feeling of satisfaction that comes from opening a can of tomatoes that I grew and processed myself. There is nothing like it in the world!

I can strawberry jam every March, but I would love to branch out and can more! Like peaches and tomatoes...and everything! :)

I love canning! I also can peaches and fruits and especially love making any fruit spreads or jellys. One really wonderful way to can Tomatoes is to Roast them first and then pack and can. I have the most intense tasting tomatoes ever then. They are like opening a can of pasta sauce all ready to use then. I experiment with lots of garlic and spices like basil and oregano. I also use a little sprinkle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil and then top it all with good fresh ground pepper and sea salt. Those are addictive!
Thanks for the opportunity at a Canning Kit!!

*Waving hands in the air* I can as well!! :) I have canned peaches and green beans...but will do more of a variety of things this year.
I do it because I love the taste of fresh veggies in the winter, and because I think it is economically a smart idea. I also like the idea of being prepared should life throw some lemons in the mix of things! ;)

I would LOVE to win!!! Thanks for the chance!

I just wanted to say that I love it too and have done it all my life. Make sure it goes to someone who wants to give it a try! Come say hi :D

What a wonderful, generous giveaway. I've canned for several years now, and I must say there are some things I just can't stand to eat if it isn't homemade any more. Store bought salsa tastes like pure salt compared with the home canned. There's nothing like jams and jellies from your own fruits. Each year I try to can something new. Last year's recipe was tomato soup, and it's definitely a keeper. I'm thinking of trying pizza sauce this year.

I don't have a garden, but wanted to drop in and say "What a wonderful give a-way" !

I just got into canning last year. I finally got a hot water bath canner and a pressure canner. If my poor garden lives this year, I will have my own vegetables to can instead of having to raid other people's gardens! lol.

I was raised on home canned goods. We always had a huge garden and my Mom who's almost 81 yrs. young still gardens and raises her own chickens. We relocated from Alaska to Upper Michigan 5 yrs. ago and have built a fenced in raised gardening area. We got back into canning and love knowing the produce is organic and tended with love. It thrills me to see canning making a comeback, I was afraid it was becoming one of those lost arts.

I was also raised on canned goods. I never learned as I grew up but as soon as I left home my first two items were to free corn and can tomatoes. I have graduated from that and last year we canned beets, pickled beets, dill and bread and butter pickles, corn, applesauce and butter, sliced and french cut green beans and lots more freezing and jamming. It was a lot of work but I didn't have to buy any vegetables this last year. That was rewarding! BTW, I am a follower.

Always wanted to try canning but afraid that I will mess the process up somehow and that they wouldn't seal properly. With all the canned products having ingredients that I would prefer not to eat, the freshness and great taste would be healthier for a family.

I came across your great blog from another and now I am definitely a follower. A great blog with many interests to read and enjoy.

Thanks for the chance at a great give away and an incentive to give it a whirl.

Have a great day.

I grew up around canning. On the farm as a youngster my mom was canning a lot so we had a fresh taste of stuff all year long which I miss.

I would love to be able to can.

My grandmother would go every year to the u-pick farms and buy boxes of tomatoes to can. Later in the summer, her sister-in-law would come over for a long weekend of saurkraut making and canning. Nothing you buy will ever taste as good! She passed last winter, but the u-pick season is coming up and perhaps I should keep up family traditions and learn to can.

I have never canned, but am really wanting to, in fact I'm quite excited to get that going ASAP. So far I have a book, and can't wait to afford the other things I need, one at a time.

Thank you for this generous giveaway to participate in!

I wanted to can last year, but I didn't have all the stuff I needed and I didn't quite know how and got intimidated. I hope to can at least a little this year (not sure how much I will be able to with baby#2 coming in July) so we can have a little stockpile to help through the winter.

I've never canned before but am looking forward to starting. I love the idea of canning fresh farm food for winter, instead of depending on grocery store produce from other hemispheres.

I can lots of my garden produce ever year. I can't imagine what it would be like if I didn't have it in the cellar. This is such a generous giveaway! Who ever wins they are going to be blessed! Thank you so much for inviting me!!!

I am a follower and I've been inspired by you and Suzanne @Chickens in the Road to try my hand at canning. We starterd a vegetable garden this year and how sweet that would be if I could enjoy some of my own vegetables over the winter. Thanks for the giveaway and the lovely blog you write!

My wife and I have never canned before but we have been saving up all the mason jars that come across our path. We are hoping to grow an excess of food and preserve it so that we are less reliant on the food industry. If you picked us we would really put it to good use. Thanks!!!

Grew up with Mom canning (and my brother and me assisting)every year - nothing quite like home canned green beans, tomatoes, corn and grape juice. I'm working toward a move back home with much more gardening and canning in the near future. For now the garden is small enough that most gets frozen for convenience.
