Pee'ing in A Cup

That was the second half of my interview so as soon as they have a clean drug screening, I have the job! Yeah me! Thought I would share a critter with you today. This is Dirt Cat. He got that name from sleeping in flower pots when he was little. He's an "outside/inside any time I can sneak in" cat. My husband is severely allergic to cats but Dirt Cat finds a way to sneak and hide from time to time. I think he bribes the boys to open the door for him!

Time For Bed

A quick list of my day...
  • Got a call about my interview. I go in for part 2 tomorrow...yeah!!
  • Called and set appointments for Jake's Kindergarten screening (eye exam, physical, etc).
  • Talked to the neighbor and borrowed a billy goat to ummmm, keep the nannies company for a few days, if you know what I mean!
  • Planted some tame blackberry bushes
  • Potted up some hens and chicks and grape hyacinths.
  • Went fishing with mom, didn't get a single bite.
  • Joe mowed the yard for the first time this spring, cut grass smells so good.
  • Made a set of 9 textures to share in Photoshop, will post them soon!
  • Finally got the kids to bed
  • Checked on the goats
Now I'm heading to bed! Night all!

Crisco Dumplings

The name almost sounds like a dessert but it's not! I always had the hardest time making my chicken and dumplings turn out the way I wanted them too. My aunt put this recipe in the family cookbook and it's the only one I use now. I like it because you don't actually put the chicken in the dumplings. This makes my boys very happy because they only like the dumplin' part anyway and I can avoid any small chicken bones that I might miss in other versions of chicken and dumplings. I usually boil some chicken and serve it with the dumplings on the side.

CRISCO DUMPLINGS
2 c. flour
3 heaping T. Crisco
1/2 c. milk
1 egg
2 cans chicken broth

Beat egg in milk. Mix flour and Crisco. Roll out thin using as little extra flour as possible. Cut into 1 - 2 inch squares. Drop into boiling broth and cook until done.
