Mr. Jonah "Lightning Bolt" Lamancha

When we have a difference in opinion on names around here, they get them all!

I can't decide if he's the cutest thing I've ever seen or....

if he's so ugly, he's cute!

Either way, he's as sweet as sugar and we love him to pieces!

He reminds me of a puppy! Nellie and Bella are due with Lamancha babies soon!! He'll have some buddies to play with!

Just One of the Reasons

I love the person who let me borrow this camera: So I can catch moments like these.

My littlest man, looking so grown up!

My baby! Being sweet!

My smoochie face. I live for those sweet sugars under that neck!

He is perfect and he is mine!

This face is one of the reasons this child gets everything he wants!

He squeezes my heart with those eyes!

Each of these photos had Pioneer Woman's "Soft and Faded" Photoshop action added.

My Boy Is A Hunter Too!

(WARNING: Photo of my little deer hunter and his first deer. I know some of you don't like the more graphic photos related to hunting so come back tomorrow! Thanks!)

Jake took his first deer this afternoon, a button buck! This weekend was youth season in Kentucky. He had been practicing with his .243 he got for Christmas last year. I knew he could hit the target but wondered how he would do with "the real thing!" All you hunters here would have been proud! He was as steady as a rock!

He dropped him where he stood! He also helped me dress him out but said I have to cook it! I bet he eats his fair share of it! He told me he thought he was ready to kill one with "big ole antlers" now! What can I say, hunting is in our blood and his Dad and I are very proud of him!

Congratulations Jake - Master Deer Slayer!!

It's a Dirty Job

but somebody's gotta do it! It's only 6 inches deep in here!!

It's hard work, but I had some help!

My boys are growing up and turning into regular little farm hands.

Luke helped load the trailer while Jake was hauling it to the fertilize pile and sweeping out the tack room.

I do believe my "ladies" will be happy to see their floor again!

Hey come back here! We're not done yet! We gotta muck out the horse stalls!!

Sorry Mom, scooping chicken poop is enough for one day!

Harvest Time

Dust is in the air

Such a familiar site this time of year.

Tractors follow the combines like faithful puppies

and trucks keep the roads busy.

Farmers are putting in long hours

while wives keep supper waiting.

When the corn is all gone, they'll start on the soybeans.

Little boys eyes light up at the site of these big guys on the road, moving from field to field.

I love harvest time in Kentucky!

Update on the Boys

and we have added one more to our goat herd. Meet Baby Jonah! He's my first half-Lamancha/half-Kinder and an absolute doll. He's Lucy's first baby and she is such a good Momma!
and the triplets, well they are all boy and growing fast. Their favorite place to sneak to is the barn loft! Those stacks of hay bales are perfect for jumping on!
and of course, the little round guy, Brownie.

He's still spoiled rotten and super sweet!
Bella and Nellie are both bred to the Lamancha buck as well and are due next month!
